MG MGF Technical - Where to place wire for an external thermometer

Sorry, not a very technical query, and I know it appears in the archive, but I don't understand the answers.

I have bought a small battery powered internal/external thermometer for the car. It has a 3m wire with a sensor to measure the external temperature. I want to either mount the display near the cigar lighter or on the T-bar and was hoping someone could give me a routing for the wire. I know I will have to chop and resplice the wire because the sensor is about the size of a 10p.

Apologies for a low level topic, but it makes a change from HGF discussions.

the key point is to mount it where it is not effected by any of these things:

Wind chill
Water spray
radiator heat
sunshine

unfortunatly it's bloody difficult to think of a nice place uneffected by all of these, possibly follow the wire to the indicator repeater in the wing and tape it to the wires about 3" in (to try and keep it from the heat of the sun on the skin of the wing)

Thanks Will.

Any ideas how to easily get there from the cabin?
Graham Martin

I'd probably put the sensor somewhere inside the void behind the front wing (this may be where Will was talking about).

As for routing the cable, you'll find plenty of suitable grommets through the bulkhead that you could use :o)
Rob Bell

As always, thank you very much Will and Rob for the advice!

Sensor secured to wires in wing void, and the cabin access was staring me in the face!

Thanks again

>and the cabin access was staring me in the face!

where on earth do you keep your face?
Will Munns

LoL to Will's comment! :D

Thanks to Will and Rob, as I too was about to carry out the same task as Graham and ask the same questions. Will crack on with it over weekend, before Spring temperature negates the need for the gauge until next Winter! ;-)
