MG MGF Technical - Window problems

I have a couple of window problems.

* driver window wobbles in-out. Old threads (see below) suggests a part that should be replaced. Any part number?

* Passenger window does not stop in the right height any more. I seem to remmember that there is an uprated windowstop for this. What is the part number for these?

* Both windows are scratced badly on the edges, is this common? I can't understand how the previous owner managed to do this...

Cheers

Good to have technical input like this on the bulletin board from time to time. I'll know exactly what to look for if mine rattles now. Thanks Simon.

I can add, if anybody cares, that driving over expansion gaps on flyovers seem to generate a squeak from the window-stop when the window is raised to its highest position. I suspect that replacement of the window-stop will cure this, but I'm waiting to find out. In the meantime I'm putting up with a slighly open window and annoying wind noise (just less annoying than the squeaks !)

to continue my monologue with an answer and a question:

I have found this working window stop description:

http://www.dotcomoff.co.uk/home/motoring/mgf_faq/diy/bodywork/windows/window_stops_diy.html

Is this the answer to all my window problems (wobbly side to side and too high?)

You seem to be doing very well on your own, it seems a shame to interrupt.

Oskar,

Brown & Gammons sell these window stops. I have a pair waiting for me to take the door cards out...

Some day.

Anyway, I believe that this is what you are after...

WINDOW STOPPER MGF
Price: 2.42 + 0.42 VAT = £ 2.84 each
Stock No: CUQ100101

And I think they sell them in pairs...

MGF WINDOW STOP KIT
Price: 3.50 + 0.61 VAT = £ 4.11 kit
Stock No: BGF2006

http://bg.mgcars.org.uk/

Hope that helps.

If you're thinking of upgrading the door speakers doing both at the same time is a good idea.

Hey,

From what I have understood ALL MGF can use the
latest uprated windowstop "CUQ100140 - Window stop"

Tell me I am right, otherwise i have wasted some £10 on the wrong kit!

Hi Oskar,

I believe CUQ100101 is just a new orange plastic item, whereas the BGF2006 kit is much better and stronger - well worth the extra.

I have just fitted two of the B&G BGF2006 kits, window is now stopping in the right position. Just remove the door card, unbolt the speaker, and you'll see a hole at the bottom of the glass - this is where the orange plastic item used to be. Fit the new stop with the allen head away from you, and you're done.
