MG MGF Technical - window winder stops

hey guys
I fitted the latest version of the window stop to my 1996 F.

It's just like a black plastic bolt that goes through a small hole in the door glass.... works a treat
and a very easy job too! I would give it 1/10 for complexity !

For such an obvious part of the car, why were the earlier designs so poor?

Neil

Because they were probably either:

a) For another car and came from a parts bin
b) One of a number of components designed by people drinking a dodgy batch of coffee, delivered to the Rover Group in 1995 in error (they were intended to go to BMW)
c) Vitims of corporate budget slashing
d) Victims of a corporate Budgie slashing!
e) Part of an international conspiracy to get consumers to buy useless items that look impressive rather than simple items that do the job.
f) Made from Knockwurst, inside each window stop is a tiny fragment of a certain painting by Van Clumph...

g) Any or all of the above...

I would guess that the original parts made life easy on the production line.
The current parts most certainly look like parts-bin components.

ahaaa that explains it!
I just thought that they had a dodgy old load of plastic bits and they just had to dump them somewhere

strangly I didnt find the original part inside the door and I had a good rummage around in there even giving the inside a dose of waxoil to stop any distant future nasties.
I did find a black rubber ring about 3/4 inch diameter and a strange rubber cap that had probably been squashed or stretched over something and was showing signs of flame red paint having been rubbed onto it.
The hole in the door glass was clear and unoccupied

When the guys in the Special Projects team at Rover had the car in 96 they replaced loads of things, maybe they had had a fiddle about in the doors too I know they replaced the door cards...strange!

see you at the rolling road thing...

Mmm...
I was wondering where the hell was that damn*ed Van Clumph masterpiece painting!!!!!!!
