MG MGF Technical - Wiper woe
TF 135 wiper activator arms keep disconnecting from the motor leaving me nearly blind and sometimes scared. It seems as if the two arms are held onto the drive by a pressure fit end. Is this a known fault and is there anything that can be done without buying a whole new wiper unit? Any help greatly appreciated. |

Same happened to a friend of mine a few weeks ago. I looked at mine and fitted a Mike Satur kit, with heavy duty ball joints to make sure it didn't happen to me. I think it should run now until the car pops it's clogs. |

At the back of the motor there is a nut which holds the arms to the back of the motor, slip a slim spanner in there and see if it's tight, if not that would probably be the cause of the problem. It should have a shakeproof or spring washer to stop it from coming loose, but it must not be too thick, there is very little space in there to play with, otherwise it will foul the bulkhead or plate assembly. Hi Jerry, Can you tell me where I can get these please? I've never come across Mike Satur. Thanks a lot, Neil G |

Try www.mgcars.org.uk/satur/index.html . Were on offer a few weeks ago. Best of luck! |

Thanks Jerry, Found it and ordered the parts. Now I need a better drill set. Brilliant to get such quick responses, great website system, unlike Ford! Neil G |

Your problem sounds similar to one I experienced. I resorted to removing the assembly and drilling directly through both halves of the joint and putting a split pin through. It holds the joint together whilst allowing the necesary rotation. Its a bit of an agressive way of solving it, but mines held for well over a year now. |
