MG MGF Technical - yet another Trophy tracking query

Apologies for adding to the tracking thread universe. I had my front tyres changed last week (Goodyear DS2,195/15/16", 18k miles): there was significant wear on the inside, little on the outside. I have been through the archive and am still a bit confused about what the settings should be - even the informative piece that Rob Bell gives links to is ambiguous on the recommendations. Is perceived wisdom still that the correct settings for the Trophy are 0deg5' toe out(F) and 0deg10' toe in (R)? Thanks.
S C Davis

Running those settings will give solid stability and good steering feel but the toe out at the front will inevitably cause greater wear on the inner edges.

One option is to stick with these settings but schedule swapping the front tyres from side to side to even out the wear, additional expense but it'll pay for itself with a good few thousand more miles before replacement is necessary.

I've been running parallel rears and 5' toe in at the front, and the GSD2s have lasted very well despite numerous track days and even a North Weald day or two. Now finally showing inner edge wear, but that's more likely to be due to the ride height being 15mm or so lower than the Trophy spec.

Thanks for that, Mike. Another variation to add to the mix! What happens if I simply opt for parallel all round...?
S C Davis

Parallel all round I've not tried, but I'd expect to be fine on a glassy-smooth racetrack but very nervous on normal road surfaces. It could also give unwanted behaviour on hard cornering & braking. The OE geometry was designed to make the car as stable and predictable as possible, so any deviation from that will be compromising something somewhere...

I think the reason there's no definitive 'best setup' is that there are so many variables from car to car - tread pattern & dimensions of tyres, rim sizes, ride height, compliance washers / poly bushes, subframe mounts, these all play a part in how the car tracks.
Mike Hankin

ok - thanks. I've gone for -5 all round which I guess is the non-contentious option.
S C Davis

I reckon that's the best option on the MGF - summarised towards the bottom of this page: http://www.mgf.ultimatemg.com/group2/suspension/tracking.htm
