Peter
Would like to attend (actually will be visiting the Sydney area in late January!).

Is there any way that some of the tech sessions can be video recorded and made available (via YouTube, Google docs, however globally shared)? Then post the link to them via this forum in a Tech-Session "live" thread?

Would be an AWESOME way to share all the know-how of the MG community.

Posting such informative videos would be applicable to not just the M.G. Restorers Association but every MG club in the world that does tech session.

Just a thought.

I agree with Randy!

I also agree that it would be great to be able to video these sessions and share them. This has been discussed on this forum in the past but it's logistically just a step too far. I don't know of anyone in the MGRA who has either the equipment or the skill. The day is designed to share knowledge for the benefit of members and owners of T Types here in Sydney. Too many of us just aren't that computer literate and some don't even know how to use a computer and have absolutely no interest in getting one. I'm only aware of one other of the 60 members in the group who frequents this forum! Also the time constraints would make the necessary set ups problematic and although probably not essential, a further complication is that there is no power at the venue. As it's also a catered affair the logistics of the day are pretty demanding already with a lot to get through in a very limited time. But if someone wants to volunteer then I certainly won't say no.. Anyone interested in taking it on? Cheers

We have 21 confirmations for tomorrow and another half dozen maybes. The weather looks set to be absolutely stunning and the snags are bathing in Nigella's marinade. I'll post an update here next week. Last minute attendees are welcome. Cheers

Will you be publishing notes from this meeting?
R J Marshall

I have a document on the speedo that I can send you as long as you agree that it's not to be copied, transmitted or published and is for your use only. This session is my contribution to the day. My job as the coordinator keeps me pretty busy so I'll probably miss much of the other three sessions. So I guess not RJ. Cheers

If I had known you had planned to have a sunny day this year I might have made a more serious effort to come down again! Hope the day went well, last year’s was good even though most of the T cars stayed tucked up in their garages.

Rob, I’m sure a T series must have braved the Nullarbor sometime in the past....

Hi Chris,

T types have travelled over to the Eastern States for some Australian Nat Meet events over the the years.

I would be confident of driving either the TF or TF1500 over from a mechanical view point. However, after five(5) years fairly intense work on both, I am not sure I would like the possibility of thumping a Kangaroo or two !! (lol).

Cheers

Thanks guys. The day was really great. Some absolutely stunning cars. The auction of donated parts raised $197 and boy did some people get some really great bargains! I purchased two original 9 post voltage regulators both with the correct bullet ended fuses for $12! What a score. Also picked up a box of bits with an original FA series TD ignition switch for $23.

Rob next years event will also be held on the 2nd Sunday in November at the same venue. Be great if you did make it across. Maybe you could give us a TF restoration update? There will be plenty of pretty TF's there to point to. Norm Lewis has volunteered to take a session on the T Type timber work. He made all of his TD timber from scratch. Andy Nelson will takes us through insulating the T Type cabin.

In spite of warnings to guard your sausages with your life the swooping kookaburra again stole a sausage from a bun just before Len took a bite. Unbelievably audacious and skilled bit of flying/beak work. Again, everyone is welcome next year. Cheers

Meant to mention that we shared a minute's silence to honour the 100th anniversary of the Armistice at 11 am today. With two uncles, my father's younger brothers, who fought on the Western front in WW1, it was a poignant moment. Horace was captured and spent the last 1 1/2 years in a German POW camp. Bill didn't make it home however. He died on the Somme of a gunshot wound to the chest on 13th August 2016.

Sounds like a successful gathering Peter!

I had no idea what a Kookaburra was so I Google'd it. I saw a video of a laughing Kookaburra and what a racket!

Hi Peter,

The TF1500 rebuild/restoration should definitely be completed by November next year. I know we make promises to ourselves to then take longer to compete the job, however my surety is there as I have been running the completed chassis (without the body) now for a month or two. Very pleased with the 1500s performance.

The body I rebuilt (temporarily on the chassis frame) was completed some time ago in its original colour of 'MG Red'. Can't wait now to offer the body tub, guards, doors etc. back on the chassis. It would be a pleasure to give an update on some of the challenges involved in TF restoration.

What a blast it would be to get some overseas boys from this bbs td tf to also attend !

I was fortunate to have my Grandfather survive WW1 even after being gassed in France. Sad that many did not make it home.

Cheers
