MG TD TF 1500 - Aluminium
Simple question really. Are any panels of the TF made from aluminium or are they all steel? |
CE Valder |
No. Only the threshold plates under the doors and the louvered vents under the wings are aluminium. Dave H |

Thanks |

Replacement bodies were sometimes panelled with aluminium, but rarely the firewall or scuttle. |

"louvered vents under the wings are aluminium" Is this correct? I thought they were steel. Genuine question. Ian TF4056 |

Mine are aluminium, (1955 TF). One I believe to be original, the other a replacement, probably from Moss USA, over 30 years ago. Michael |

Ian, TFs had the louvred vent panel under the wing (attached to the side engine panel ) made out of aluminium. Quite a few TFs I have seen over the years have this panel oriented the incorrect way around. With the TF engine bay being fairly closet, one needs to allow the hot air from the exhaust manifold to escape expediently. Cheers Rob Grantham TF3719("Aramis"),TF9177("Athos"). |

Rob, Louvers facing aft is my guess? Thanks, Peter |

Yes, always. Dave H |

Peter, Dave is correct on the louvre orientation. Rob Grantham |
