MG TD TF 1500 - Another slight part difference

I was working on painting the thermostat housing and the elbow pipe that attaches to it.

I have two of the elbow pipes and in looking them over to determine which I wanted to use, I noted two things.

One has the "cheese head" slotted bolts, and the other has hex bolts. On the sides of the one with the hex bolts, the indents on the side of the pipe are longer and slightly deeper.

So, the question of the day. Do you have a slotted bolt or a hex bolt on yours?

Here is the different bolts

BTW. After enlarging and studying the factory photo's, I decided to go with black for the thermostat housing. Without color, it's hard to tell, but I found enough pictures that do show a difference in shades to justify using black.

All of mine are cheese head screws with no cut out on the brass pipe elbow. (4 cars)

Cheese heads were original on my "virgin" XPAG.

Cheese head on all of mine as well.

I wonder where in Wisconsin MG got the "cheesehead"bolts from?
Charles Duffy

This is a picture of a cheese head screw in the pipe on a 1953 unrestored MG TD. Sorry about the size. If I blow it up it loses too much definition.

Cheese head it is. A little part of Wisconsin on my TD.

Richard. That is interesting. Mine only have the indentation on the right side. Nothing on the left. But they both look like it was built that way and not carved out.
Bruce Cunha

Bruce, I just went down to take another look. Mine are already installed on engines, but you are correct, there is a slight carve out on the one side like you say.. Sorry for the mistake.
