MG TD TF 1500 - Anti sway bar on a TF
LaVerne I watched your video on mounting an anti sway bar on an MGTD. I want to install one on my TF and I have two questions: Can I reuse the existing spring pan? I think an extra hold would have to be drilled. Second, which would be better a 9/16" or a 5/8" sway bar? Bill |

Bill, I have a complete used sway bar assembly minus the spring pans, for sale. 99% of the MGB sway bars were 5/8". I also like to install the Moss RB HP 480# 264-386 springs with a sway bar. Len In Yonkers NY |

I think you should use the MGB spring pan that is made to use with the bar. As you can see in the photo if you attempt to drill it, you will wind up with a hole that only has metal half way around it. Either the 9/16" or 5/8" bar is fine. 3/4" is too much for the street on a T car.

There is an error on the video that I have no way to correct. The trapizoid gusset should have the long side on the bottom when installed and not to the top.

I welded a tab of metal onto the original pan, then drilled it. It looks identical to the later MGB pan, and I am sure is easily strong enough. Use high quality bolts. Dave H |

Thank you all for your responses. They are very helpful. LaVerne, I thought your video on installing the sway bar was excellent! The correction on the trapizoid gusset is noted. Bill |
