MG TD TF 1500 - Any places with used TD parts?

I am still looking for a factory original light/badge bar. I know it is a long shot, but does anyone know of any yards in the US, Canada, UK or Europe that still have wrecked TD's?

I would assume most have been picked clean years ago, but there may be some shops that still have parts.
Bruce Cunha

I don't know of any TDs in wrecking yards, and I doubt there are any. I also don't know what a TD badge bar would look like. But there's a big MG swap meet every November in Southern California so that might be a good place to look.

2 to think about, Hugh Pite up in BC, Canada, and yesterday I saw a seller “siesta sun” on EBay with lots of TD/TF parts, albeit very pricey.

I have dealt with Hugh Pite and found him very reliable and with a good inventory.

A little off topic but curious. Back in 1974 there was a huge wooden barn of a place in San Jose, California with an owner who had a massive stash of T series parts. More that one could imagine. Body and mechanical. I'm sure the place has been raised and redeveloped by now but sure hope all this material was saved by someone somewhere. Anyone in the hobby that far back in the Bay Area recall the place?

I think that place is called Abingdon Spares.

Thanks all. After posting this here, I got a message from a person in the UK that saw a post I put out about needing a badge/light bar on another site (I try and hit as many as I can when looking for rare parts).

We came to an agreement and hopefully, I will soon have a factory bar with a 462 light, and some interesting badges.

I have been told the stone guard is not correct, it is for a larger light, but I don't know I will keep it on the lamp.

Bruce Cunha

I wasn't aware the 462 lamp was used on any TDs. After the TC, they were generally replaced by the 576. I don't remember seeing any post-TC MG with a 462. Special order part?
Steve Simmons

I'll be curious to how this is wired too. Does the wire just go up on the outside of the front splash into the light or is there a hole one one of the brackets (left side of car?) that the wire goes into and is then fished into the badge bar?
Christopher Couper

Jim, you're a few thousand miles off. Here's what Abingdon Spares looked like back in Walpole NH. Bud

I know of a private parts hoard that would match John's description. It's mostly liquidated now but still a lot there. Mostly early stuff though, TC mostly. I think he had 35 frames on one wall.

The 1958 Parts manual says the TD used an SFT 462 spotlamp (page P.2)

Here is a picture off a brochure. I don't know what the different lamps look like.

Clausager says the TD used SFT 492 and the TF used the 576.

On this bar, the wire for the light just hangs down off the light.

Bruce Cunha

Steve, is that some place in California or the Bay Area? If so, I hope over the years since 1974 somebody saved all that material. Land use constantly changes in California. I am sure the original barn like place has been raised & turned into something Silicone Valley compatible.
John Quilter (TD8986)

It's in the Bay area and it's still there.

I just searched the TABC archives. Pretty amazing that in 22 years of postings, there is zero mention of SFT 462 being factory installed to TDs. Was it a special order item that came with the badge bar? I wonder if they were trying to use up old stock.
Steve Simmons

It was one of the few factory accessories you could order. In looking at factory brochures, I see a number with the bar and light.
