MG TD TF 1500 - Arm Rest Question

Since I never see nor hear about an armrest for a TF - anything out there? Thanks, Jerry
Jerry Chandler 1951 TD

Not truely an arm rest but made two of these. One for the now gone TD and one for my TF Anyone made for a TD will fit a TF.

I still have the extra one.

LaVerne,

Please tell me about that valve cover sitting there. It has stirred my curiosity. Are the knock-offs attached?

Tx, Dan
Dan Nordstrom

Those were a couple of candidates that didn't make the cut.

MG LaVerne

Yep attached...but not very well. It was the EX 2011 one of 3 built for the Reno event. Last known residence was Missouri .

MG LaVerne

Love it. Venting one with Knock-offs would look great on a car, but I think it would be a bit heavy. The engine might lean to one side.

Thanks, I enjoyed the pictures.

Dan,
I believe that it was the start of a Valve Cover racer,,,

Back to armrests......Moss lists the arm rest as for the TC and TD only. It seems that one would slide between the seat bottoms on the TF. Anyone have one installed?

Tom
'54 TF
T Norby

The seat bottoms and the spacing between the seats is the same on the TD and the TF. The difference is the split (bucket) backs on the TF and the solid back on the TD. If it works on the TD , then it will work on the TF. The one shown here fit just the same on the TD I had.

Jerry are you looking for the leather covered type armrest that was offered as an aftermarket item? If you want to make one, I have pictures showing the construction details. I made mine and had it upholstered locally.
Jim Merz

Jerry,

I have an armrest for sale on red vinyl. Email me if you are interested and i will send a picture.

I am also interested in the plans. Can you post them to TTalk with buds permission?

Rick

Bud, would you want me to send the photos I have of the arm rests I have collected? However, I don't have any details of precise dimensions of any of the component parts. Since I didn't like the angle of the top section of the commercially offered items, I custom made mine from what I think would fit my needs.
Jim Merz

Go ahead, Jim. But, it'll be a week before I can get to them. I'm heading down to GA very shortly and will b e back next Friday (not a Lazarus trip). Bud

Hi Bud, I know you are up to your hips in things that have to be done associated with your move from the NE to GA. I will send the pictures I have for inclusion in TTalk when you get a little time.
Best of luck with your move and be safe.

What is the diameter / width of the Drive shaft tunnel? That is the piece of the puzzle I need to make a console.

Thanks

Rick, since you are going to make a custom arm rest, I suggest that you go through the same steps that I did. I say this because carpeting and padding on the floor and maybe the driveshaft tunnel may make a difference in your finished product.
I made cardboard pieces held together with duct tape and determined the shape and sizes of the finished product from the pieces. I went through several versions before I was satisfied with the fit and shape of my arm rest. That also was a good way to learn that I really didn't like certain features of the originals and made changes accordingly. The rest I have suits me perfectly and I am glad I did it in the above manner.
If you feel like you want the nearest dimensions, I can remove the rest from my car and take it from there.

Thanks for the information. I was looking for a place to start and have a couple of mockups.
