MG TD TF 1500 - BA Threads
I am finding a number of BA thread screws and studs on the TD. I don't have the original screws used to hold the Guarantee, Patent and Body plates. Can someone tell me the length and primary width? I would also like the size/type of the nuts. |

I also found the packing ring on the steering column is BA. The thread measures out at 0.23, or 0 BA. But the nut takes a 3 BA wrench. So when reporting BA thread, do you list both the screw size and the wrench size? |

I can't answer your question Bruce but I can confirm that when restoring the TC and TD ignition switches I found that the nut at the rear that secures the lock body extension has a 4 BA thread but a 6 BA spanner is required to remove the nut. I haven't been able to find these odd sized nuts anywhere. Cheers Peter TD 5801 |

Anything BA I look at British Tools and Fasteners here in NY, of course they will be standard BA sizes. Peter |

Sorry for invading your post Bruce, but speaking of screws, what size screws does the distributor fixing plate take to secure the points? PJ |

I will have to leave that one to someone else PJ. I was not doing the motor on my list. I don't see it on the late Dave DuBois engine list. An email to Jeff Schlemmer at Advance Distributors may get the answer. Thank Peter. That is what I am thinking. Unless someone has more information, I will list the Thread as the BA size by the diameter of the thread and the wrench as the one that fits the nut. |
