MG TD TF 1500 - Battery new type ??
Just saw this, has anyone had experience with this type of battery? Just curious. PJ Cranking Amps: 750 Maximum Output: 750 Amps Amp Hours: 22 Weight: 14.5 lbs Dimensions: 3-1/16"L x 7-1/8"W ![]() |

No experience specifically, but that looks like a general purpose battery, not an automotive one. If so, it might not do well in an automotive application, with wide environmental temperature fluctuations and lots of vibration. |

The ad says, "Designed for use as an additional battery to power your high-performance sound system." The battery posts don't look like they would accept automotive battery cables. Tim TD12524 |

I think modern batteries are infinitely superior to those fitted to our cars when they were new. I bought a new "Alphaline" battery from the Battery Megastore shortly after starting the restoration of the TF over three years ago. I have used it for testing all the electrical components, for the initial start up of the engine, without the dynamo and it is now the car's regular battery. I have never had to charge it externally. I have an Optima in the TF, it's covered with a fake cover making it look like an old style and it works very well. Only installed it as it's profile is lower than most and I can install or remove it without unfastening the rear bonnet hinge bracket. PJ |

I wonder how this compares to the Optima. It's certainly smaller, but has around the same output but less amp hours. |
