MG TD TF 1500 - Black light shows
I turned off the lights in the garage and turned on a flash light that is a BLACK LIGHT. I had put some UV leak detector in the engine oil. Ran engine in place for about 15 min. Did not drive on the road yet. Had a few small drips on the floor on a fresh rebuild. 900 miles on her. Well I could see a couple bolts I need to hit, but also saw the UV on the trans and rear end. And the axle ends where I had taken the backing plates off when installing new half shafts. They glowed also. I can see that the front seal on the rear end is leaking. This really stands out. so I know the next part I will be getting. Does yours glow also? |

The only reason that there should be glowing at these other places is because of the leakage from your engine. Hard to see how the UV-fluor would have splattered to those places if the car hadn't been driven. Take a look at your differential fluid and see if it has some sort of UV-fluor in it. Bud |

I have not driven the car since adding the UV into the motor oil. The gear oil I use must have it in. Have not looked at the product label yet. ![]() |

Shine your UV lamp into the container and see if it glows. Bud |

Yep... it glows. Looking into the 2 gal. container of gear oil. the good news is not much leaking on the engine. ![]() |
