MG TD TF 1500 - BOLT SIZES

The bolts for mounting the bell housing to the block are listed as 8 1mm x 1", with a whitwerth head. Except for the head, I am assuming the these are the same as can be found at a local hardware store ??

Hi Steve, I think the pitch is different, they might be 8 x 1.5.

Steve, they were indeed 8 1mm x 1" on my car. I had trouble finding replacement bolts at the big box stores because the heads were too big and hit the bell housing before seating all the way. I finally bought a bunch of used bolts from a guy selling off his MG T pats.

I purchased a bag at McMasters.
The fit fine.

If you can't find suitable ones I could send some.

If you don't mind a hodgepoge of different bolt heads in the car, you can just get standard fine metric fasteners to replace missing fasteners. You will still need Whitworth tools for the remaining, correct fasteners and also a set of metric tools for the replacement fasteners. Why not just get the correct fasteners from Moss or Abingdon Spares? Cheers - Dave
