MG TD TF 1500 - Brakes
After 44 years of ownership, please ley me know what is wrong with this statement. "I have just spent an hour looking for some parts I put away carefully in a safe place" . They are the beehive springs for the front brakes. Ray TF 2884 |

I don't know where your springs are, but I have the same problem almost daily. good luck, Al 54TF "Emma" |

I might be displaying my ignorance, but I don't remember the front brakes having beehive springs. I guess this makes your "remembering" problem worse! I can sympathize - I keep losing things I had in my hand a second ago. |

Easy! Just go look in your "safe place". <grin> |

It is always the parts that you remember carefully putting in a place that you won't forget that go missing. MC- if you have an early TD you may not have had these springs, but unless I am misremembering- later TD's &TF's did have the "beehive" anti-rattle springs. |

I do know that only the rears have beehives, I had just done the rears before moving to the front and I still had the beehives in mind. The reason being that as supplied new in the UK the hook is too long and has to be ground off. I just thought the person who hides my spanners had moved them. Ray |

Straight from the words of a medic. Forget where you have put something or a person's name - no problem Forget why you wanted the item or the person - worry. Jan T |

Nobody mentioned the "Quick" solution. Purchase another set. A soon as you do, even though the replacements have not arrived, but they have been shipped, you will find the "Lost" ones. They need to be shipped so you cant cancel the order. Jim B. |
JA Benjamin |
Could you be talking about "thackery springs?" Not sure on the spelling, but thats how you say it. |
S Cole |
The WSM,page M.11, Item #42, refers to them as "Spring-brake-shoe steady". A/S calls them "factory Part #AAA4714, Anti-rattle spring" (033-041). Bud |

I have quite a few duplicate tools since it never fails as soon as I buy a replacement, the "lost" tool shows up in plain sight! |

When I rebuilt my TD.... I placed every nut and bolt in clear bags. I also had a big clear jar marked " C R S " label on it ( Cant Remember S**t ). When ever I could not find a bolt.. that is where I would find it. But I have learned " It is ALWAYS in the LAST place you looked. " |

My policy is to stop working when I can't find parts or tools Ihad a couple of minutes ago. Works for me. David |

It will show up when you buy a new one. Mike |

It is amazing how far posts wander off. This only started because I forgot TF's don't have brake steady springs at the front. Happy Christmas everyone. Ray TF 2884 |
