MG TD TF 1500 - BROKEN RING
I have a new set of the old 4 ring style pistons with the long slot on them. Stamped 40 over. Everything was brand new when 2 owners ago started rebuilding this TD many years ago. Now after 5 years in my hands, everything is ready to start going back together, starting with the newly machined engine. But I broke an oil ring. Yikes! I am panicked. What do I do? These things aren't even in the catalogs any more. Least not one at a time anyway. I hope I don't have to start over with new pistons now. I was going to start assembly today. I was told these old style rings broke easily, but holy cow. How screwed am I? Sandy |

SMB Try Abington Spares in Haddam Ct,, I'll bet Martin can help, you have to be ready for BRITISH BY THE SEA in June!! Steve |

I strongly recommend using Deves rings, no matter what kind came on the pistons. Tom Lange MGT Repair |
