MG TD TF 1500 - Brooklands Steering Wheel

I know that the 17 inch wheel can be bought with a gold pearl rim, anyone know if it can be bought on a 15 inch wheel? PJ

Don't know Paul. All the ones that I see advertised are black, and available in 14", 15 1/2" and 17". I believe there are at least two makers - Kimble Engineering in England that make them the traditional way using Bluemels tooling, and another supplier somewhere in the Far East that doesn't.

Thanks Dave, I'm going to order one from Abingdon Spares, as I've been told the ones they sell are from England using original tooling. I do not want one from the far East. I'm calling Martin tomorrow and see what's available. Thanks again, PJ

Moss 454-268, looks like the center cover is different than the original. Looks a little odd to me. 60 bucks cheaper to. Wonder if this is one from the far East?? Not for me. PJ

Don't know whether Mark Davies can help. Drop him an email.

For the man that has everything, come on you know you want it,you just need a lazy $US2400:

Paul, here is the wheel that was on the TC at my place a few years ago.

If it had been my car I would have sent it off to have the rim restored but it wasn't my car.

Just talked to Martin at Abingdon Spares and found out that Brookland hasn't made the wheel with the Gold pearl rim for quite a while, Black is the only option. Ordered a 15 inch wheel which will be sent out today and it's made in the UK. PJ

A few years before his passing, the late Gordon Lawson made this wheel for me at a reasonable price. I'm sure there are others out there that can make whatever you'd like.

My TF had the 17 inch black rim Brooklands wheel and I replaced it with the 15 inch version from Kimble Engineering. It is amazing how much easier the car is to enter and exit, and the steering is still plenty light with 155 radials. The quality of the new wheel was equal to the 17 inch version in every way.

Jack, Thanks for the info. Ease of access is the main reason I wanted a smaller wheel, but I also wanted a make that was available when the car was new and Brooklands fit the bill. Supposed to be here today. PJ

Just put the new 15 inch wheel in and what a difference climbing in and out of the car! Love the feel of it also, a little fatter in the grip and very solid, not as much flex as the 17 inch. PJ

Sorry for the poor pic.

Looks great, Paul.
