MG TD TF 1500 - Car Shudder
I have an odd one...starting out and shifting into 2nd gear feels good, into third I feel like deep shudder. I thought maybe front end alignment but that should happen at a certain speed, if I take her into higher RPMs and MPH in 2nd it's fine, just when I put into 3rd I get this shuddering, which also continues into 4th. Thoughts? Steve |

And speaking of shudder or clutch judder, do all TDs judder when releasing the clutch in reverse on a slight incline? Never does this in 1st, up hill or level. Mine's done it for 40 years so I thought it was a built in "feature". |

Steve, have you checked engine and transmission mounts? |

I have not but after you mentioned that I checked engine mount and the one that is on the right side to the right of the carbs seems a bit loose, I'll try tightening that up and see if it makes a difference. Please tell me how I would check tranny mount, can I do that without putting the car on a lift? Thanks, Steve |

Not familiar with your physical build, but I can slide under on a piece of cardboard and look at mine. Never crawl under if just using a jack. Always use jack stands if raising a car to crawl under. Regards, Tom |
