MG TD TF 1500 - Carbs, What Are They For?

Someone on ebey is advertising these as TD carbs. Doesn't look like their even half there, but I don't recognize them. Anyone have a clue? PJ

Paul, that's an upside down view of the bottom half. Bud

Bud, they show the other side, (top), which I didn't download at first, but there are only two attaching points for the bell, not three. Thought that unusual. Here's the other side. PJ

If you are referring to the piston chambers, there are only two attaching points on my stock SUs for my '51 TD.

Yes they look like the bottom half of my carbs, missing float bowls and dashpots. See

THEIR FUNCTION IS TO MIX THE AIR AND FUEL FOR DELIVERY TO THE CYLINDERS FOR COMBUSTION.

Sorry!!, looking at your thread title I just couldn't help myself. They look similar, but not the same, as the 1-1/4 SU that I borrowed from a '37 TA for my TD while mine were being refurbished. The difference I see is the flange to take air cleaners or an inlet manifold. Jud

Tried to find them on US Ebay but no joy. What's the ID number PJ? Cheers

H2s for a TD have only 2 screws for the suction chambers, as do HS2s for the Midget. H4s for the TD MkII and TF have three screws, as do the HS4s and HIF4s on the MGB, and other models.

Warmly,

That's what threw me off Dave, I've never seen an early SU stripped down, actually I've never seen one complete. LOL. PJ
