MG TD TF 1500 - Choke and Starter knobs
My original choke knob pulled off the choke cable and I'd like to reattach it as its the original. Help? |

JB Weld won’t work? I have not seen one separated, so I don’t know what you are working with. Regards, Tom |

It seems like I remember seeing a John Twist You Tube video on soldering those knobs back on. Kirk |

II think I found it. It’s labeled: “160 MG Choke cable repair” on You Tube under John Twist University Motors. Cheers, Kirk |

WMM: We need a picture of the failing area. There are all sorts of things I can think of that describe your issue but they all have different fixes. For example if the cable truly came off of the handle then you need to get a new cable and unsolder and resolder the cable. I used bicycle break cables and a bicycle cable cutter too. |

Use low temp silver solder if you can, it's much stronger. This happened to me and the silver solder worked on both the choke and starter cables. Regards Rod TF 54. |

What about when the plastic knob comes off the shaft ? Is there a fix for that? Bill Chasser TD/c-8151 |

Bill: Not sure how that can happen. I thought the Bakelite knob was cast around the brass shaft. Can you show a picture? I suspect the best alternative might be to use some JB Weld steel. |

I ordered a new one today. According to Moss I had bought this in 2015. Can’t believe it was that long ago when I was buying parts for dads restoration. I’ll give the JBW a try. |
