MG TD TF 1500 - Clutch Cover Rebuilder

I have a perfectly good clutch cover with one bad spring. Is there anyone who rebuilds such things, or are they throw-away when they have an issue?

Hi Guys,
I was recently told that 7 1/4" clutches are no longer easily available. No problem with 8". I immediately retrieved a heap of 7 1/4" bits from the rubbish pile, in case someone needs them for rebuilding in the future. Not sure if the same issue exists in USA or Europe.

I never throw clutch discs or covers in the scrap bin. They are always rebuildable unless the pressure plate exploded or is cracked I recently a NOS B&B from Peter Caldwell last summer that was listed on eBay. When I inquired if he had any more he said, “No.”. He also had some NOS 8” pressure plates listed at that time.

The shop I used my whole wrenching life just closed after over 50 years. This is getting scary. They were the only shop around here that would arc brake shoes. Luckily I can do my own but still. They would rebuild clutches, test the springs, re-face the bearing, etc. They were the best. I don't know what we're going to do in 20 years when there's no one left who can do this stuff.

I had an Industrial Brake outfit here rebuild the original clutch on my TD. They did a great job with new springs installed. It was less than a new clutch (at the time) 2010.

Maybe you have an industrial Brake and Clutch outfit near you. They normally do overhead cranes and such. As the tech said a clutch is a clutch.
