MG TD TF 1500 - Color of clutch bell
I'm unsure about the color of the clutch bell. I've seen different pictures. Is it the same as the engine (maroon) or is it without color (aluminum surface)and only the cover plate is maroon? |

All engine red. "The T-Series MGs" By Graham Robson is a good reference for factory engine photos. Matthew. |

I've found Chris Couper's site invaluable for originality issues. http://www.mg-cars.org.uk/mgtd/mgtd_finishes.htm Tim TD12524 |

The engine and transmission were installed as a unit on the assembly line, so the engine (including sump), bell housing and transmission were all painted red. Many people feel the natural finish on sump and bell housing look better, and leave them unpainted. Tom Lange MGT Repair |

Thank you all - I'll follow your suggestions. |

I will probably paint mine, but for the 43 years I have had the TD, my bell housing and my oil pan have been clear of paint. But then I also have a tappet cover that is the same color as my valve cover. |
