MG TD TF 1500 - copper or fabric washer?
Just replaced the oil pressure gauge braided hose on the TF (it rotted from new while car sitting in garage during restoration). Tightened up the lower banjo on the block as tight as I dare, but still a small dribble after running engine. New copper washers and honed the edges of the banjo. Ready to try a thick fabric washer. Good or bad idea? thanks, Tyler |

These worked for me. https://www.mscdirect.com/browse/tnpla/65075517?cid=ppc-google-New+-+Motion+Control+%26+Fluid+Power+-+PLA_sdftkVNdd___164124449021_c_S&mkwid=sdftkVNdddc&pcrid=164124449021&rd=k&product_id=65075517&gclid=Cj0KEQiAuonGBRCaotXoycysvIMBEiQAcxV0nK-4G2PyMzcSWnQqU-pUv-zw4wz8cuYjxVCrn0SB6ZUaAoZd8P8HAQ Tim TD12524 |

Anneal the copper washers again and have another crack, be sure to bring them up to "cherry red". Graeme |

Tyler, Originally, and with good reason, the copper washers were 'crushable'. They had a softer filler centre (possibly Asbestos in the early days) which sealed off very well. You can get the equivalent type from suppliers such as B@G UK I suspect. Also, like all gaskets and their sealing effectiveness, the surfaces which are being attempted to seal may need a careful examination for accuracy i.e. for truth (flatness) and or any pitting etc. Please let us know how you get on with this issue. Cheers Rob Grantham TF3719("Aramis"),TF9177("Athos"). |

I installed Moss's last week, sealed plenty tight. |
