MG TD TF 1500 - Crank ID
I have a crank from a TD. Unknown year. It has the following ID: 168557 ESF&EM or EN 27 The first is the part number. The second I assume has something to do with the type of steel used. Can anyone tell me if this is a updated crank from the ones that had a tendency to break in the front? Thanks Joe |

Yes, that is the later TD, TF and Wolseley 4/44 crank. Evidently better steel was used but they still seem to crack on the 1st journal. Hugh Pite |

Joe any chance of a pic showing the part number? I've had one made using an original as a template & wondered where the P/N was located & the type of font used. Cheers Peter TD 5801 |

Thanks Joe. I'd assumed you were describing the crank handle not the shaft! I believe the later crankshaft was referred to as the 100 ton crank. Cheers Peter TD 5801 |
