MG TD TF 1500 - Critique My Ebay Ad Please
I've listed my TD on ebay, and would like input on ways to make it better or more attractive for sale and/or more accurate. This is a driver quality car, and by no means a show car. If the car sells, I will be looking for a fully restored TC, as that was my first T-Series car, or a Jaguar MkII/340. I'm torn between Jags and MG's - always have been. Would like both, but hey, is costs too much moneeeey! Thanks in advance. http://www.ebay.com/itm/-/232410893050? |

Only you know whether it is accurate or not. But it comes off as an honest appraisal. With the upgrades mentioned it would seem the price to be a fair as listed. Good luck in your sale and your future quest Bill Chasser TD-4834 |

I'd say the price is more than fair. Best of luck on the sale. |

Delete the noisy clutch throw out bearing, it is normal with the Moss ( not needed ) roller clutch throw out bearing! Never intended for an angular actuation of the clutch fork! Len Fanelli Abingdon Performance Llc. |

As others have mentioned it seems very honestly represented with a lot of detail. Good pictures and the price seems very reasonable for the car as described. Hope all goes well with the sale. BobbyG |

It is okay, That does not correspond to my claim to originality but it awakens in me the desire for a test drive. I keep my fingers crossed for you to find the appropriate driver. |

Good luck Larry...seems a very honest ad that, if I were in the market for a TD, would interest me. Gene |

This line caught my eye: Brake light relay (brake lights draw 3 amps and burn out the switch. The relay removes heavy current from the brake light switch) It makes sense to someone who understands cars/electrics, but to a total novice, "brake lights draw 3 amps and burn out the switch." could sound like there is a problem. Maybe reword like, "The relay removes heavy current from the brake light switch, which prevents it from burning out." Good luck selling and finding your TC. Charley |

Thanks for all the comments guys. I've incorporated all of them. Keep 'em coming. |

Larry, you might want to consider changing Charley's last phrase to "...switch, greatly extending its life." Just the old "accentuate the positive, eliminate the negative". Bud |

Thanks Bud. I don't think T-Series are selling very well on eBay, and I was considering an ad on Bring a Trailer. Has anyone here used that site, or know anyone that had any success with it? Seems like their in the business of getting involved in writing the actual description, and if it doesn't sell you can't relist it, both of which seem odd. I'm in no hurry to sell, but I didn't want to wait until Winter to sell a convertible. |

Have you thought about the NEMGTR's TSO? It worked for me with 'the53'. Bud |

Larry, A friend of mine used BAT to sell his TD vintage racer. He did his own write-up. Gene |
Gene Gillam |
Gene: I might be misinterpreting their statement "We work with sellers to help them craft an honest and informative listing for their vehicle using the seller’s facts and photos." I took that to mean they are involved in the description, as reading the descriptions in auctions there it definitely sounds as if a third person wrote them, rather than the seller. Maybe not. |
L Karpman |
Larry... A lot of people can't write an ad...see ebay, craigslist, etc., so maybe BAT finds it necessary at times to 'assist' the seller. In your case I think they'd take your verbiage. Gene |
Gene Gillam |
Probably so Gene. I'm going to let the eBay ad run its course, and than contemplate the $99 ad on BAT. Also, BAT requires a Buyer's Premium of 5%. That could affect how much someone is willing to pay for a vehicle. If I listed mine for $18k the buyer would pay an extra $900. Could affect the final bid, but don't know. But then again, pretty much the same is true in live auctions. |

Len I have the Skyhook conversion with the Datsun 210 trans. Does this apply to that, and if so can you elaborate? "Delete the noisy clutch throw out bearing, it is normal with the Moss ( not needed ) roller clutch throw out bearing! Never intended for an angular actuation of the clutch fork!" |
