MG TD TF 1500 - Differential oil level

I know the TD differential is supposed to have 2.7 us pints of oil, but how full is that?

I have to add oil to the differential,and wanted to know if it is filled to the top of the plug hole.

From the owners manual:
The axle must then be filled with one of the oils to Ref. B, page 36, to the level of the filler plug. Approximately 21 pints (1.3 litres) of oil are required to refill the axle.

21 pints is about 12 liters? :)

2 1/4 pints (2.7 US) is as you say 1.3 liters.

Book says Hypoid oil.

Just wondering if that means level with the bottom of the threaded section----if it were the top there'd be no need to mention it at all as it would be impossible to fill it higher than the top

I Fill to the bottom of the plug threads in the casting not had any issues
