MG TD TF 1500 - Do you want to add to the data?
| Thanks to the efforts of Steve James I now have a copy of Gordon Lawson's T Numbers database. There probably aren't many cars on the list that aren't on the other T Registers that I'm aware of. But the T Numbers database also contains body numbers which most of the others do not. I know many consider the body number to be of little use. But if an owner is missing the body number plate and the stamped number is either unreadable or missing due to replacement of the sill timber it would be helpful to have a source for that number. I was able to use Gordon's database to verify my body number which is partially illegible. I'm soliciting chassis numbers and both numbers from the second line of the body number plate to add to the T Numbers list. If you are missing your body number I might be able to help you identify it or at least get you in the ball park. It just depends on how many cars with verified body numbers are close to yours. If you are interested in adding the above information to the database please send it to me or post it here. It would be a shame to see Gordon's hard work be forgotten. | My current car: TD16175 ?????/85240 My previous car (sold in 1971): TD16472 15823/85670 As you can see I am missing a number for my current car. Can you help with that? Also, in trying to guess at what the missing number might be I started collecting numbers about a year ago. I have an Excel spreadsheet with around 150 numbers. You may have most of them because I got them from Ebay, Hemmings, Autotrader, different forums etc, etc. But if you would like I could email the file. Bill |

My car number is HDB46/1565 Engine number: XPAG/TF/31616 From the body plate: Body type: TF Body number: 11162 I believe the original exterior color was Birch Gray with Red interior. | HDA46/2250 XPAG/TF/32108 Body 11627 Original engine and body. Converted LHD to RHD by me. Was Black with Red interior when new, and sometime later painted Birch Grey, now Red with Tan Interior. | Tim My car was never in Denmark, and I absolutely guarantee everything about it that I gave was original and genuine. I also saw that reference and imagine either somebody made a mistake or they are a trickster and cloned the chassis number having lost their own! Anyway the original records confirm my chassis and engine number. D |

| Tim I bought my car (XPAGTD2 11837) in 1962 in Melbourne. It was BRG and fitted with the drilled (not solid) steel wheels. The Victorian Registration Number was GLT802. | Pater Malkin, this appears to be your old TD. Modifications/History Car shipped to Sydney on SS Sagaland and was received into Nuffield (Aust) inventory on February 18, 1952. Car was originally painted Green with Beige Trim and sold on February 29, 1952 to W. Wee C/- St Andrews College, Newtown, N.S.W. with Reg # ADZ 990. Information on this car from David McNabb MGCC SA. You probably have all of this information. There was nothing in Gordon's database except the chassis number and engine.
