MG TD TF 1500 - Door safety catch

I know this has been discussed on this forum many, many times, but I looked through the archives and didn't see anyone using the catches Doug Pelton's From the Frame Up supplies. I just finished installing them on my late 52 TD and they are very positive acting and look like they belong there. The rotary arm is spring loaded and positively locks in position so it does not depend on friction against the striker to stay in position. It cannot jiggle out of position and be extended by accident when you swing the door closed, which would be a serious problem! The set for both doors was about $50.00. I've attached 2 pictures showing it latched and unlatched.

Here is a picture with the latch in the open position.

AC, can you post his Item# here? His online catalog doesn't seem to have a search feature or pictures and I can't find this item.
Thanks,

Best solution to an age old problem I have seen to date, very neat and simple.

To anyone looking to install a set of these I will add that when I installed the catches in the pictures above I had to make some little shims to go under the rotating piece on the door. I needed them to ensure the catch passed over the welt on the cowl door pillar so it wouldn't wear on the upholstery. Also, I removed the tiny cords from the hidem welt at each mounting location to ensure good solid mounting. I used slightly longer screws than the one supplied on the rotating door pieces as another attempt to ensure a good solid installation.

Very clean looking accessory. Thanks for sharing!

I bought one years ago but my doors are fitted so oddly that the parts will never line up.

Edit: What's with my user name?

How far below the normal latches are the catches?

Click on the "customise" link found at the upper right hand side of the screen and check your user name. Correct it if necessary and click on submit at the bottom of that screen. If that doesn't work check with the webmaster.

Jim B,
I mounted mine at 2 1/2 inches below the bottom of the door latch chrome cover. It's really up to you where you place them but I wanted to keep it as handy as possible.

@James, tried it but the customization screen is not working for me. I've emailed the webmaster so hopefully he can shed some light on the issue.
