MG TD TF 1500 - Dual belt pulley needed for supercharger installat

I’m needing a dual belt crankshaft pulley for a Marshall supercharger that I’m in the process of installing on my MGTC. The dual belt pulley that I have is roughly .020” too big of an ID and has too small of a key way cut in comparison to the single belt pulley that I was running with the carburetors. The dual belt pulley appears to be 1” ID. The single belt pulley that I have appears to be 25 mm ID with a slightly larger key way cut in it.

Any suggestions as to where to source one? The machining cost to modify what I have is more than I want to pay.

Kirk,

These people, in the UK, manufacture parts for Shorrock superchargers. You can check if their pulley will suit your requirements.

Thanks John, I’ll check them out.

Hello Kirk. Is this the style of pulley you are talking about? If so the keyway can be re-broached to the proper size(it only takes about 5 minutes to broach the keyway) and then the pulley could be fitted to the crankshaft with a piece of .010 thick shim stock around it. I made one a couple years ago out of cast iron for my Wade supercharger.

Here is the original single pulley with the double that was in the batch of parts that the Marshall came with. I wondered about shimming the double, but I am worried about the shim shock just wadding up into a ball due to the cut in it to accommodate the key way.

Hi Kirk. The shim stock that I have in stock around that size .010 is pretty stiff. I don't think that if it would crumple. I need a press when I need a tight bend. I could send you a chunck if you want I buy it in 6" x 100" rolls.

Hi Butch,

Thanks for the response. I’d appreciate it if you are willing to send that shim stock. I have a couple of options that I think will work to get it bent. Let me know the cost.
