MG TD TF 1500 - Dynamo main terminal nut size
Lost the nut from my dynamo I removed from the TF, What size is the nut/thread on the main post? Don't want to put it away without it.Thanks, PJ |

I have made several of these nuts. According to my records its a 3/4-26 BSF thread. The first ones I made were aluminum with straight knurls the length of the body. I was informed these were incorrect and it should be brass with a minimal knurl as shown above. If needed I could make you an oversize one with a bit of effort. YOu would need to give me micrometer dimensions over three wires on the largest (tightest) part of the threads. Jim B. ![]() ![]() |

I should have posted this on your other inquiry. My Bad Jim B. |

Jim, Thanks loads for your response, but here is the nut I need., the nut is Brass, I can make the nut but need the nut and thread size. PJ

Jim B. I think you mean 1/4 - 26 BSF. An SAE 7/16 diameter nut is very close, although the threads are wrong, but you might get away with retapping the threads. |

Moss Motors 1/4 BSF brass nut, item #311-265 British Tool & Fastener 1/4 BSF brass nut "manifold nut". May be too thick?? https://britishfasteners.com/bsf-bsc-brass-manifold-nut-1-4-4020.html BSF is almost same as British Brass. Lonnie TF7211 ![]() |

PJ , a different subject, but related...have you considered changing the orientation of your distributor so the Dino drive cannot contact the stud and ground it out? Regards, Tom |

Tom, my fan belt allows me to slide the dynamo almost all the way out, which gives me more room between the distributor and the tach drive and pretty much eliminated that scenario. PJ |

To those interested, I just ordered a 3/4 X 26TPI tap and die set from Tracy Tools in the UK. Not the only source, but the best price. PJ |

"PJ , a different subject, but related...have you considered changing the orientation of your distributor so the Dino drive cannot contact the stud and ground it out?" Where's the fun in that? :-) |
