MG TD TF 1500 - Early MG TD for sale in York PA

Interesting car popped up on CraigsList. An early TD? Certainly has early wheels on it. And it's also RHD, making it pretty rare.

Definitely a mismatch between the early wheels and the very late engine. Speedo and tacho are the later type also. Can't tell if the ignition switch is original. If so it would almost certainly be one of the MRN series if this was an early chassis. The chassis number would obviously date the car. Cheers

Not a 50. The wiper is in the center. Speedo/Tach are later. Amp gauge is later. Car has been redone at some time.

The amp gauge is an early one Bruce as it's 20 amp. The later TD gauges were 30 amp. The dash slotted head screws do suggest an early date though. Not an original "barn find". Cheers

Yes all original parts except they are from different cars.

The seller wrote, "It is titled as a 1950. I know very little about these cars other than what I was told. When I ran the chassis number through the MG registry it came back as a 1950."

No mention of the non-matching "matching numbers" or the non-original "Completely Original" nature of the car.

It's TD1325 according to the Guarantee plate, with a replaced TD2 engine. A real mix-up...

It's not entirely clear whether this is an early car with later features (my guess), or a later car with some added early features. Seems liklier that someone would replace the original engine with a later one, than that someone would add the solid wheels and 20/20 ammeter to a later car.

Relooking at it, the wiper is just on the wrong side. I would agree. Early TD with a later engine.
