Don't know what "lame" means in this case - but I'm impressed about this good job. |

Thanks fella's ....I'm certainly not a pro by any stretch of the imagination. I was just wondering if anyone found it worthwhile enough for me to continue with this. Questions and criticisms ...good or bad ... are still very much welcome. I'm keeping the video's to about 10 minutes in length and I figure you can listen to whatever you like as you watch it..If I add royalty free elevator music to them it takes much much longer to upload to youtube. Video would be nice but very difficult to capture without a camera man focusing in on what I'm working on so I'm stuck just shooting a lot of stills and putting captions with the photo's. |

La Verne Very nice job, two things that might be worthy of mention. 1. On my block it was necessary to relieve a web in the casting to allow the ring compressor to sit square to No 4 bore for piston insertion (sorry no image taken). 2. Warning concerning orientation of the rods, it is possible to fit them 180 degrees out of phase. My engine was assembled by the re builder incorrectly if it had been started engine would have been destroyed. Did you have the block line bored? |

The workshop manual specifies the direction of the original rods ....the oil squirt hole in the rod should face away from the cam shaft.. The new rods are symetrical and do not have a squirt hole. One builder has suggested that I drill one to direct oil to the underside of the piston. The supplier of the piston is firm that it is not needed. My machinist says that he plugs the holes on the rods that he changes to forged pistons. |
