MG TD TF 1500 - Engine Stabilizer Bracket
The part of the above that bolts down with the inboard rear mount bolt needs a spacer. I am let to believe that the spacer is 3/8” thick. How long is the bolt, I have seen 1.25 and 1.875” both mentioned? Getting an order together, appreciate any help. TIA, Peter |

See Front Suspension. https://www.mg-cars.org.uk/mgtd/mgtd_bolts.htm Depends on which shocks you have. |

I would assume if I need a spacer I have the Girling and need 1.75”. Can anybody confirm 3/8” on the spacer, got that from Dave Braun. Peter |

Someone have a picture of that. Does the spacer apply to all TD's? Mine fits without a spacer (Girling shocks) |

Spacer with Armstrong shocks. Here it is with Girlings.![]() |

I learned something new. Thank Chris. Any help in what this is called when looking it up through moss or others? |

Here's another photograph showing the spacer. I had the bracket welded. Jim ![]() |

Here is mine. No spacer, but the metal tab does look bent.

I mounted the new Michelin tires today. It helps that I have a tire machine and a bubble balancer at the house.
A couple of questions. Has anyone used stick-on wheel weights? I am thinking of trying them and would appreciate any input from those that have. It appears the valve stem hole is the older TR15 and the new stem is TR13. I see that they make a bushing for this. I am assuming the issue is the smaller stem may rub on the edge of the hole. Is this a problem and is it worth putting in the bushing? ![]() ![]() |

Bruce, When I had the TF wires balanced, they used stick-on weights on the drum side out of view, they balanced out very well. I was concerned that the clip-on weights would mar the chrome. PJ |

My wires are using stick-on weights, have been there for over 4 years. They cleaned up the rim to have them adhere. I bought the balancing cones for tire guy to use. Peter |

Bruce, any concerns with using your bubble balancer with lug-centric wheels? Thanks. Jud |
J K Chapin |
JK. Not really. I understand the concern, but I have never had any balance issues, and have been using the bubble balancer since I got the TD back in 1973. I got the tire weights in the mail today and expect the valve stem bushings in the mail tomorrow. I am going to install the bushings and then work on moving the tires to different positions on the rims. I will take pictures and post how that goes. |
