MG TD TF 1500 - Engine's gotta come out, dang it.
I was hoping the work would be a bit less involved, but once the cam proved to be bad..... Well, it just needs to come out to do a proper all-around engine refurb. So, best method.... will the engine-only come out without removing the rad, lts, etc., or do I really need to pull all that off the car? I wouldn't mind the extra work, but I know myself.... One thing leads to the next and before you know it I'm into a full restoration. |

Radiator is going to need to come out. Consider yourself lucky it isn't a TF.

Thanks. I might as well bite the bullet then. TF... yea, I like the look, I looked at 2 TF's before sliding back down the primitive scale to the TD. I'm glad I don't have those sides to deal with. |

And so the wings do not get banged, pull them also. This will allow you to get "into" it. You will get the "BIG PICTURE" of the whole front end. Its really not that hard. The wiring for the lights is the hardest. |

M, I just did an engine only R&R. leaving the tranny in.. I think it was a lot less work instead of removing the interior for a combo engine/tranny R&R. Steve |

Further comment,, I left the wings in place Steve |

I'll second Steve's suggestion. Going back in. Bud

2 quick questions based on your picture LaVerne 1 I have my brass fuel line attached to the other side of the firewall tower... am I wrong. 2 what is the bar running below the horns from 1 from wheel to the other Thanks Darryl |

The rod is a "sway bar" Makes taking corners real flat! I have my copper fuel line on the outside of the tower,,IMHO, it makes it easier to route it to the pump Steve |

Cheers Steve....any idea where the sway bars can be got. |

There are many in the archives, mostly from MG'S. And many, many ways to mount them. Search Sway Bar. MG T TALK has many also.. Steve |

Darryl. Its a std anti roll bar from an MGB. Well worth doing and easy to fit. Attach to the front dumb irons, with some adjustment to the position of the the horns. Its also worth shortening the std drop links. See LaVerne's guide on YouTube. Dave H |

I did remove my engine before I took the wings off. While I was rebuilding, I took the wings off and was able to work on other things. When I went to install engine, it was a really easy task as I had way more room to work. also I did not have to worry about dings. wish I had removed the 10 bolts and removed the wings first before the engine. |
