MG TD TF 1500 - Felt bushing suppliers?
I guess this is the time to replace the felt bushings on the steering column. Any advice? I know sometimes one supplier offers a better version than another... which is the best? (I'm not going to make my own out of Delrin). Thanks! |

I used the Moss felts with good results Bill Chasser TD4834 |

I've had heavy leather, waxed, in there since 1972. Still goes fine. David |

I have found the ones from Moss to be quite acceptable. I use graphite (powder or spray) when I install these. David |

I just installed the Moss felts on my MGA's column last night. Had to shred a bit off as the top one was quite a bit tight... a dozen strokes with 100 sandpaper did it. Felt bushings... gotta love Brit engineering. |

Lol mandrus you are right. Sometimes I am surprised that more of the car isn't held together with twine. And if it was you can be sure someone would explain that the twine we have today just is not the quality of fine British twine of the past, and how twine was of course the perfect solution for that specific engineering problem and anything else is simply not acceptable ... Just a joke hope nobody is offended...😃 |

Back in 1974, when I first restored my TD, I did not have the felt for the steering column. I found a nice piece of a plane brown leather belt fit perfectly. Your posting reminded me that the leather is still in the steering column. |
