MG TD TF 1500 - Floorboard T nuts needed

I am in need of four 1/4BSF floorboard T nuts with good threads. These install in the forward two positions to secure both sides of the trans tunnel. Any help to obtain these is greatly appreciated !

I can find one.
Its shop made. Its 304 SS, but nice and black from heating to braze.
Threads are new.
I will keep looking for more.

Thanks Jim.

These T nuts are also found in the side timbers that mount to the TD wheel arches for the side curtain door to rest against.

Bill can you post an image of where these are in relation to the TD wheel arches? Cheers

Peter. As requested. These are the two timbers that bolt into the wheel arches and frame the sides of the side curtain door

Thanks Bill. I had one of the two original door stops that was lying in the bottom of the side curtain box when I purchased the car in 69. I used it to make a new pair. I'll see if I can find it out in the shed today and take a pic of the fixing. Cheers

Can someone please provide the cross-sectional dimensions for theses timbers. I cannot find these timber amongst my non main tub frame timbers. I purchased a complete timber set back in the 80s.

I haven't as yet checked the trays of bolts, nuts and T and D nuts for the T nuts shown.

thank you
Stuart

Hi Stuart. I'm happy to help you out. I can't provide you with a cross sectional drawing as my skills aren't in that direction, but I can send you the original that I have, as long as you pay the shipping both ways when you return it. I'll get up to the Post Office when I find it and have taken the pic of the fixing to post here. Then I can let you know what the postage would be. Should be the same there and back when you're done with it. I used this original to make a pair that are exact copies. A word of caution. I have seen these installed on the wrong side so that the door leans to the rear, rather than to the front. The owner was blissfully unaware! It did look really ugly and would presumably be unusable for side curtain storage. Let me know if you're interested. Cheers

Door stops reversed. Not pretty. Cheers

T-Nuts easy to find on Amazon - eg:-

These are a very different item Gord. See the first pic from Bill in the thread. In any event the T nuts in the link are telling us that they're currently unavailable and don't know when they will be.

The pair of rectangular strips are missing from my floorboards also Bill and I could use them as well. If anyone knows of a source of these, I'm also looking for four. Cheers

These are also called 'T-Nuts' ...

https://www.amazon.com/Each-Sliding-Threads-Track-STN-1/dp/B01DRDNKTO/ref=sr_1_5?crid=3W57SOOOYY5M8&dchild=1&keywords=t-nuts+1%2F4&qid=1599663672&sprefix=T-Nuts%2Caps%2C1564&sr=8-5

I can't recall. I always had trouble replacing my floor boards, so I cut them in half. Much easier now.

Bill,

These rectangular tee nuts have two nail-holes similar to the originals. Enough for you and about a hundred close MG friends. They are 1/4-20. Don't know if they can be filled and tapped for 1/4 BSF. Or use slotted flat head 1/4-20 machine screws and don't tell anyone.

Thanks Lonnie. They certainly look very much like the originals. The American expression 1/4 x 20 is less understood here. The assumption is that the 1/4 refers to the diameter of the bolt thread (1/4") and the 20 is the number of threads per inch? I wonder if there are others here in Oz who would be interested in chipping in to get a bag of 250 for $65.50 US? That's enough for 62 TC/TD/TF? floors. Cheers

Peter.
You are right in thinking 1/4 is the diameter and 20 is TPI. I/4-20 is UNC or Whitworth(UNC is 60degrees, whitworth is 55 degrees thread ) and 1/4 BSF is26 TPI.I suspect that these are UNC.

Thanks Gordon and Lonnie. I prefer not to mix and match various hardware thread types. Iim still looking for 1/4 BSF T nuts as pictured in the OP
