MG TD TF 1500 - For Chris Couper

The owner of this TD....TD1250 had the blaster leave some patches untouched and he asked me to reveal the original colors. first is a section on the fuel tank..which is also the same as the wings. This photo in natural shadey light

This photo is the same area with a flash. Contrary to various publications, it is certainly metallic and it is also lacquer which is also in conflict with published material

This is a section on the tub in the natural shaded light.

And in this shot with a flash. Contrary to the published material...this is enamel ....also metallic.

Also contrary to the published information....there is no doubt that the original interior color was green.

I can't say for sure that this is one of the elusive tutone green TD's mentioned in the publications but I suspect that it probably is.

LED: Those are great and align with what I have seen before.

I think if you email me the pictures they will be better as the forum has a habit of messing with them.

LaVerne I have been in regular contact with the owner of FRX 942 which was one of the factory competition MK IIs to run at Silverstone in 1950. It is a well documented car and one of three. FRX 941 and I believe FRX 943 or 940. I can’t remember. It was almond green with green interior. It was the car feature in the Dec 1950 Autosport magazine and others. It also shows up in several of the restoration books.

The car was in absolute original condition until the first of the year. It is currently undergoing a no money spared complete restoration. VxG

I think I am going to combine all of these green samples in one page. Trying to hone in on what car numbers received this treatment may be interesting. Maybe Almond green was always a two tone color.

It may be that all the 1950 and perhaps early 51's had this two tone green. Later in 1951-53 it looks like solid Woodland green was the color.
