MG TD TF 1500 - front hub bearings
I am just restoring a TD/C and found, that nowhere the sizes of the front hub bearings are listed. So I measured my old ones with unclear specs on it. can it be, that these bearings are metric? my suggestion at this time is 6304 C3 ( 20/52/15 mm ) for the outer bearing and 6306 (C3?) (30/72/19 mm)for the inner bearing every info is welcome michael |

I checked the archives for FRONT WHEEL BEARINGS , and got a few hits,, this is one; http://www2.mg-cars.org.uk/cgi-bin/gen5?runprog=mgbbs&access=&mode=archiveth&subject=8&subjectar=8&thread=2010072312191929632 or this one for removal http://www2.mg-cars.org.uk/cgi-bin/gen5?runprog=mgbbs&access=41721752800099&mode=archiveth&subject=8&subjectar=8&thread=2011061619531531335 hope this helps, Steve |

no sorry, didnt help so long, because the listed numbers are not used in germany the questions are still: are these metric bearings? is the spec C3 for extra play in the bearings important? are sealed bearings useful? michael |

Michael, I believe all bearings are made to metric standards world wide. |

I replaced a rear hub bearing on my Morris Minor with a C3 bearing and had more play than when I started-they are not suitable for wheel bearings. Regards Declan |

Michael, Definitely metric and your sizes are correct, 6304 & 6306. FAG make them. 6306zz and 6304zz are sealed bearings and have lasted me a long time. Ray TF 2884 |

Thank you all for your assistance meanwhile I got also confirmation from the german td specialist, that the bearings are metric and my specs are correct. I could'nt believe, that MG uses metric except on the motor, because with the screws its always a mess. And the C3 bearing is delivered from a parts company here, which started my research, because I could'nt believe it. kind regards michael (td/c 1951 under construction) does anybody have a 1 1/2" intake manifold? |

Michael, Which is it, a TD or TC? Are you looking for the air intake or the actual intake manifold? I do believe the 1 1/2" can be adapter to the smaller intake manifold without much effort. The 1 1/2" air intakes are rare. The smaller one can be made to work with the larger carbs. The thread underneath will not match up with the intake manifold, but that doesn't stop people from using them (I can speak from experience). The Mark ll has the bulge in the bonnet to accomodate the larger carbs. |

Hi Jim and Steve This seems always to irritate. A MG TD/C is a TD Competition that means, he has some extra goodies like bigger valves, higher compression, two fuelpumps, extra andrex shocks on all wheel, 1 1/2" H4 carbs, for that a bulge in the side of the bonnet. this has nothing to do with the MK II Motor, which comes later. My TD/C is build 1951 Michael |
