MG TD TF 1500 - Front suspension bolts....how tight
Very quick question. I am going through the car checking tightness of bolts etc and realised that the cross bolts on the front suspension were not properly tightened. These obviously shouldn't be too tight as it will interfere with the up and down movement. Each has a locking pin. My question though is how tight do I do them? Apologies is my terminology is incorrect. The Moss catalogue refers to them as top link bolts. Bolts are directly below the word cross bolt in the attached picture. ![]() |

They have distance tubes to prevent you from compressing them too much. I do mine as tight as I can with a 10" wrench that meets the castle hole. |

Thanks Chris forgot that I had the distance tubes installed. Been a while since I did that job. |

And tighten them with the car on the ground. A arms horizontal. Tom |

No engine in yet so not horizontal. Maybe I should wait untill the full weight is on the car. Thanks Tom |

Only the inner A arm nuts need to be tightened with weight on ground, the others do not. George |
