MG TD TF 1500 - Garage lift

We are starting the process of building a house with a 3-car garage. On the last bay that has a single door I would like to install a 2-post lift. I am having the contractor pour a 3,000 lb 5" slab in that bay and have the door track extend to the ceiling with a side mounted opener. I don't anticipate lifting anything heavier than a LBC. I would appreciate any suggestions and recommendations as to what to buy and any additional garage modifications. Thank you.

Hi Bob, I recently installed a 2 post lift in my garage.
I bought a Twin Busch 242A which is their basic model. It was very easy to install and with the help of Jan T ,(regular contributor to this forum), took around 2 days of work.
I understand that they are readily available in the USA.

We are very impressed with the standard of engineering of this lift, easy to operate and
extremely safe and solid,as well as very good value. I have no connection with the company other than as a satisfied customer.

6" floor on the bay with the lift is how I went along with plenty of rebar. Ceiling height for that bay would ideally be 14'. Circuit breaker a 220 volt feed planned in for the electric. You may not think you will ever use it for something heavier but you never know. This is my 10,000 Bend Pak.

I am in Ireland so the lifts available to you will be very different. One thing to spec in though is sufficient electrical power. You will need high AMP supply and cable. Check the specs for those you have recommended and ensure you have that built in.

Perhaps have the power come down from the ceiling as I have. Both are high AMP power cables. One for the lift and one for power socket so it can take my MIG welder.
Cheers

Certainly if you have the ceiling height and can afford it get something like the Bendpac. The floor should be at least 6" minimum and more is better. In my shop with 10' ceiling I installed a shorty lift from MaxJax (about $1,800) and am very happy with it. There is a fairly recent thread with many comments and several pictures about lifts that may be worth a look.

I have a 4 poster, but the DirectLift brand does both 4 and 2 posters. They are fully US certified and are some of the most reasonably priced ones around. My 8000 pound 4 poster was around $1800 including delivery to a local place with a fork lift and ramp for unloading. Be sure to look for the certification. Without it you are likely to get some of questionable quality - especially in the steel and the welds.
