MG TD TF 1500 - gearbox rear felt seal
Does anyone have the dimensions of the felt seal? |
Len Fanelli |
> Moss #121-300 Brown felt 2-3/8" O.D. 1-1/8" I.D. 11/32" Thick (New dry seal measured with a ruler. Can't easily measure flexible felt with a caliper.) FWIW - I have tried the white rear felt seal from Abingdon Spares a couple of times. It's too thick. I couldn't get it to seat into the groove in the case. Lonnie TF7211 |

Thanks! I am helping Martin @ ASL to rectify this issue. |

Good to see suppliers working to improve products -- even on a $3.00 item. I believe that the current A/S seal is made from denser felt than the Moss seal. Lonnie TF7211 |

I also had a wrong seal sent from a local supplier-the small white one. It was way off but he did replace it. Regards Declan ![]() |

I am pretty certain the lack of a drip is a function of mileage. As the miles increase the scroll wears and there is no way an oil free engine can be achieved. Jan T |

Len, Thanks for the info we will change the specs on our next order with our supplier. Also we just got in the anti rattle springs for the gear shift on TD, F. I'll send you a couple to try out, I think they are perfect, it took a couple of month to get them made. We also just got the small springs for the sliding hub in, Moss does not carry them. I will send you some of them as well, let me know what you think. Thanks, Martin -- Martin Cooke Abingdon Spares |
