MG TD TF 1500 - Generator Cooling Fan - Just curious
We were checking out my friend Peter's generator (TD10879) and I noticed that his cooling fan is a solid casting unlike the stamped metal on mine (TD25009). I know my generator is aftermarket but Peter's could be original or, at least, the cooling fan might be original. Equally likely is that it's not even from an MG. Does anyone recognize this cooling fan an know where it came from? Thanks. Jud ![]() |

Early ones were cast, later were pressed. See generator fan here: https://www.mg-cars.org.uk/mgtd/mgtd_production.htm |

Chris knows. Early TD fan. It looks like it has a damaged fin.

Yes, it has a wounded wing but it's still functional. No noticeable imbalance. It falls into that "Ain't broke" category. Thanks for the info. Jud |

The early alloy pulleys are prone to accelerated wear if the driving belt is too tight - you should just be able to turn the fan by hand when the engine is off - any tighter and your water pump bearings are also overloaded. Tony The Classic Workshop Black Mountain QLD Australia |

Dave Braun is quite alive! This article was written by Dave Dubois. RIP |

Oh! Bill, thanks for straightening me out. Having never having the honor and pleasure of meeting either gentleman personally, I hope it's understandable that I can get the names confused and that Dave Braun will forgive me and Dave DuBois' ghost will also. Jud |
