MG TD TF 1500 - Got the Firewall on today
Got the firewall installed and bolted up. Did the first tightening and will wait a day to let the black filling to squeeze around a bit, as others have said it has a tendency to keep moving out after final tightening.
I did have one small setback. The bolt kit I got from NTG had washers that were way too big. In looking in my misc fasteners box for the TD and talking to a couple of members, it looks like the correct washer for the outside is 0.63". This fits a metric washer I found at the local hardware store. ![]() |

PS. I did drop Paul at NTG a note and picture regarding the washers. |

Bill. NTG (MG Bits) has been one of my suppliers since I did the first restoration on my TD back in 1974. They have been around for a good amount of time and are good folks to work with.
They have nice fastener kits for almost every area of the TD. I let Paul know of the issue with the washers. He responded very quickly that he will get that changed from his vendor immediately. Shipping is not all that bad from the UK. I pay a few dollars more, but sometimes it is well worth it when doing a detailed restoration. |
