MG TD TF 1500 - Hello from the proud new owners of 1954 MG TF4677
Greetings from St Andrews near Melbourne in Victoria, Australia. Just before the Covid-19 lockdown we bought TF4677. Although trips out have been limited and the amount of shopping that you can fit in the vehicle makes you think twice before deciding that you are going to take it to the shops, we have thoroughly enjoyed our time in the car. The vehicle was restored in 1997/8 and has done just over 10,000 miles since. Prior to its restoration we believe it to have had three owners. We are now the eighth owners. We hope to continue enjoying the car for many years to come. Thank you to all who contribute to this forum for all your input.

Mike and Sue, Brilliant ! A very nice looking TF. Congratulations on selecting out one of the prettiest MGs ever manufactured. Cheers Rob Grantham TF3719("Aramis"),TF9177("Athos"). |

Welcome aboard Mike and Sue! Great to hear you're enjoying your TF and putting lots of miles and smiles on the car. Frank TF1414 |

True Rob, but when all is said and done it's really just a TD with a pretty face. :-) Great colour! Welcome. Cheers Peter TD 5801 |

Mike and Sue: Welcome aboard. You will have a lot of fun driving that car. For the other AU viewers: I have never seen a tonneau cover that unzips and attaches down to the bottom of the door like this. Is this an AU thing? |

Welcome aboard. See http://www.ttalk.info/car_lists.htm where you might want to contact Rick Taylor and get added to the list. Bud |

This is how mine looks. It is a vinyl copy of the one that was on the car when we bought it 46 years ago. PS the flap is to stop water leaking through the zip [I do live in England :-) ] Mike & Sue, I hope you have as much fun with your TF as my wife and I have had since we bought ours. Chris, I have not seen too many 'Australian' TFs with this type of post Factory type of half tonneau. It may be a bit like wire wheels being fitted to a TD, sports practical and the car looks better ! Cheers Rob Grantham TF3719("Aramis"),TF9177("Athos"). |

Well after 68 years I must admit I have never noticed tonneau covers like these before. Now I have seen two and suspect I must have overlooked many more. :-) |

Welcome Mike and Sue. We often come over for the Saturday market. Definitely MG country! |

Thank you all for your welcomes.
For clarification, the tonneau cover is full size rather than a half tonneau. I assume it was made when the car was rebuilt just over twenty years ago. I have the receipt for the upholstery and will see if the tonneau cover is mentioned. I have made contact with the person who did the rebuild and can ask about that in due course. Matthew - when things get a bit more normal and you are going to visit St Andrews market (assuming it reopens) it would be great to meet you. Michael |

Will do Michael. |
