MG TD TF 1500 - Help with Missing Bolts
I am missing this bolt and nut, of which there are two, that go at the bottom of the spare tire carrier tube under the rear apron. I looked at the part diagrams for Moss, Abingdon and NTG none of which show this bolt. Thanks in advance. Jim ![]() |

I was under the car bleeding brakes. The one with the nut is 5/16 BSF by 1-1/4" The one fastening to the cross tube is 5/16 by 1" I think these are original, but you never know. Jim B. ![]() |

I need the details and the orientation of the original bolt, nut, washer and bolt head markings that secured the earthing strap to the side of the battery tub box. The two that held the battery timber tray in position appear to be mentioned in Chris's site. Cheers Peter TD 5801 |

I just got done taking the paint off my TD spare tire rack and putting primer on it. I also measured all the bolts.
Mine appear original as they are marked Newton and Wiley. The bolts that clamp to the frame of the car are 5/16 bsf x 1 1/4 As are the bolts holding the clamp to the tire rack (this looks long to me as the threads stick out about 1/2 inch so this may not be correct and 1" may be correct. The bolts holding the plug and the license plate arm are 5/16 bsf x 1 1/2 Jim, Let me know if the bolt holding the bracket to the spare tire rack looks similar. Once we get that, I will update my list. ![]() ![]() |

My LP bolt may not be original. It’s not painted so it was not in the bracket when it went to the painter. Also I have a rack bracket under it. That said it’s 5/16 BSF by 1-1/2” long. Even without the rack bracket I believe 1-1/4 would be short. Jim B ![]() |

I went down to touch up the LP bolt. The face was painted. Only the sides were bare. So it did go to the painters in the bracket and as such I would believe its original. Jim B. |

Bruce, They are the same size and the two that I was missing are 5/16 1 1/2. |
