MG TD TF 1500 - High lift cam points Dwell
Just doing my fourth rebuild ( its a long story ) and was checking my points. Does anyone know what the dwell angle is for the high lift dizzy lobe? I thought it was 60 degrees but this has resulted in 0.007" point opening when it should be 0.015" |

58-62 if you have the high-lift fitted to TF. Peter |

I don't remember exactly, but if you have an older 3-wire meter you may be reading the complement of the dwell, 33-27 degrees. Set the points to .015" and see what the dwell is. Tom Lange MGT Repair |

Is the car negative earth? If it is positive earth and you are using negative earth tester you will see the complement as Tom suggested. 28-32 would be complement of 62-58. Peter |

I complied this information form data originally put together by Bob Grunau. Tim ![]() |

It looks like my dwell meter is a three wire and I have been trying to set it to Bob Grunau's advised 57-63 degrees of dwell when i should have been aiming for 33-27 as Tom pointed out , hence my measurement of .07" instead of .015 Thanks all for your help ! Cheers, Keith |
