MG TD TF 1500 - Hub nut torque

Could someone please tell me the torque setting for the nut holding the hub to the splined axle shaft for a TF rear axle. Ditto for the front hubs.
Does not seem to be in the Workshop Manual.
Thanks in advance

Rorry - According to the specifications that I have (I don't remember where I go them) the rear axle hub nut should be torqued to 85 ftlb, then to the next closest pin slot in the nut. Cheers - Dave

Thank you!
Not sure why they did not include vital things like torque settings in the manual when they describe how to rebuild these assemblies.

My WSM doesn't show it either. I torqued mine to 85 foot pounds, probably got the info from Dave D or Dave Clark for my new axles, not sure. PJ

85ftlb may be OK with brand new hubs and axles. If you have disc wheels then 150 is the way to go. There are NO new hubs available for disc wheels and any play soon wrecks them. The axle will handle 150 with ease.

Ray is correct. I torqued Tommy's to 150 ft-lbs and then to the next hole for the cotter. It is relatively easy to do with a good breaker bar after getting the right torque with a torque wrench.

One of the nuts benefited from taking a small amount of surface off the spacer. Those calculations are shown on my website.

See http://www.ttalk.info/RearDrumHolder.html for Steve Wincze's idea for holding the drum while you're torquing. Bud

My 150 ft-lbs is me standing on the end of a spanner. :-)

I have wire wheels and the whole assembly, axles and hubs are new. No movement, in fact the hubs were a little snug getting them on. PJ

I did my rear seals a few years back and torqued to a specified 150 ft-lbs. Had no problem doing it using a good torque wrench.
