MG TD TF 1500 - Hylomar verses Permatex #2
Would Hylomar be better used for Viton gaskets on the fuel sender unit than Permatex #2? PJ |

PJ, Declan posted this on the other thread below: "Paul, Hylomar is not fuel proof-only fuel resistant. Permatex seems to be the common choice in USA and Reinzoplast in Europe". Cheers Peter TD 5801 |

While #2 is considered gasoline resistant, Permatex makes a specific gas resistant sealer: Permatex® PermaShield™ Fuel Resistant Gasket Dressing & Flange Sealant - See more at: http://www.permatex.com/products-2/product-categories/gasketing/gasket-sealants/permatex-permashield-fuel-resistant-gasket-dressing-flange-sealant-detail |

Stick with "Stag" you wont go wrong. |

Graeme I used Stag to install the Welch plugs but wasn't sure how it would go with the fuel sender so I used Permatex 2, which looked & smelled a lot like the Loctite aviation gasket cement I used on the engine & gearbox gaskets. If I do get any leaks around the screws I'll give the Stag a go as it's a bit thicker than the Permatex 2. Cheers Peter TD 5801 |

Seems like you chaps have a monopoly on Stag, being an Australian product. I think we can plug the leaks with what's available here. Sounds like a superior product though. PJ |

No worries sourcing Stag by our non Aussie participants just use this link it caters for O/S customers; http://www.fuelequipment.com/store/pc/viewPrd.asp?idproduct=455 |
