I am so lazy to rebuild my pump. I have a kit and another fresh pump too. My car can sit for a month or more without use, especially during the winter and I suspect some of my issues are either valves gumming up and/or the diaphragm has gotten old and stiff.

If you have a spare length of fuel hose laying about,
You could try taking a fuel line off a carb, and running a hose back to the tank and just let the pump run for a while and see if a good workout helps it clean itself up
Might be worth a try-------
